AKP supporters attempt to burn one citizen alive

ERZURUM (DİHA) - A minivan with HDP flags on it was set on fire after it was attacked with stones. The driver of the van, Aydın Taşkesen, was rescued before being totally burnt, although he was hospitalized for the burns. The AKP supporters tried to burn one citizen alive.

The tension in the city began at the morning hours when racist mobs initiated attacks at HDP supporters who were en route to HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) rally. A group of AKP Youth Units and Grey Wolves organized the racist attacks via social media. Fascist groups attempted to provoke HDP supporters before today’s HDP rally in the city.

Police watch the attack

While this barbaric attack was being carried out by fascist group, the police stood by and did not interfere. Taşkesen was taken into intensive care unit and he is in critical condition.

As HDP supporters arrived at the rally area, fascist groups gathered at the area’s entrance and began to chant against the HDP. Despite the nearby police barricade, fascists insulted and threw stones at HDP supporters. Police and military forces were also placed near the rally area, but did not intervene in the attackers for a long time. Turkish police attacked at HDP supporters and participants of the rally.

At least 13 citizens were wounded in the police-backed racist attack.
