YPJ fighter Kurt laid to rest
DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - Thousands of people laid YPJ fighter Hacire Kurt (nom de guerre Newal Farqin) to rest in the main Kurdish city of Diyarbakır.
The body of the YPJ (Women's Protection Units) fighter Hacire Kurt (nom de guerre Newal Farqin) was laid to rest in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır following a massive ceremony. Thousands of people including Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy candidates came together and joined the funeral ceremony.
The flags of YPG, YPJ, posters of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and YPJ fighter Kurt were carried in the funeral ceremony. The crowd frequently chanted "Long live resistance of YPG/YPJ", and "Martyrs are immortal" and held one minute silence in memory of all those who lost their lives in the struggle of freedom and democracy.
Her strugglr to be resumed
Women left roses of the grave of Kurt. Speaking in the funeral ceremony MEYADER Co-chair Ayşe Dicle said that they would resume her struggle until victory. DBP Diyarbakır Provincal Co-chair Ali Şimşek underlined the historical struggle of Kurdish woman. Kurt's brother Ömer Kurt said, "Struggle of my elder sister and her comrades will always continue".
In the wake of speeches, the funeral ceremony ended amid slogans of "Martyrs do not die".
