2 killed in armed attack in Idil
ŞIRNAK (DİHA) - Two people were killed and two were wounded as a result of an armed attack conducted by supporters of the radical Islamist Hür Dava Party Thursday afternoon.
Two people were wounded as a result of an armed attack conducted by supporters of the radical Islamist Hür Dava Party Thursday afternoon. The armed attack targeted a HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) convoy on the way to Kozlu (Xanikê) village of Şırnak's İdil district on visit to villages of the district as part of the election campaign.
The assailants with long barreled guns also targeted the other HDP members in the convoy and supporters in the village who reacted to the attack. Gendarmes were sent to the village where tension between villagers and assailants is reported to be continuing while HDP convoy has left.
Then, the members of Hüda Par began to open fire on the convoy and villagers. The villagers responded to them. After an armed conflict, Hür Dava Party members Muhammed Şerif Şimşek (35) and Abdulcelil Talayhan (37) were killed. Also, villager Nezir Teber and one of his relatives were wounded.
The soldiers encircled the village and denied both entry and exit.
