2 teachers of Kurdish school probed

DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - An investigation has been initiated against Education Union Diyarbakır Branch Co-chair Yıldırım Aslan and TZP-Kurdî General Head Sebahattin Gültekin, two volunteer teachers of Ferzad Kemanger Primary School.

An investigation has been initiated against Eğitim Sen (Education Union) Diyarbakır Branch Co-chair Yıldırım Aslan and TZP-Kurdî (Kurdish Education and Language Movement) General Head Sebahattin Gültekin, two volunteer teachers of Ferzad Kemanger Primary School (Dibistana Seretayî a Ferzad Kemangar) giving education in mother tongue for Kurdish children.

The Kurdish teachers have been probed with the claim of "opening school upon instruction of illegal organization". The primary school was opened on 15 September 2014, but sealed for times with the verdict of prosecution.

Education Union Diyarbakır Branch Co-chair Yıldırım Aslan said, "We used our right to remain silent at police headquarters". Now, the probe was directed to public prosecution office, he added.

Aslan reminded education in mother tongue propaganda of AKP government and noted, "This is all contradiction".
